After some discussions and consultations with Agriterra’s Corona Monitoring Team and the local team in Rwanda, the Youth in Agribusiness ToT was ready for takeoff! The participants and trainers were excited to finally execute this training, since it was originally planned to take place in March 2020.

The first 2 days of the training were meant for the aspiring Master Trainers: Marine Umukunzi and Jean Marie Ntakirutimana. They immerged themselves in the content, methodology and facilitation skills required to implement the Youth in Agribusiness programme and more specifically, to be able to train other people in this topic; starting with the famous Kick-Off Workshop. Marine and Jean Marie joined the Youth in Agribusiness programme from the very beginning and it’s a pleasure to have them on board of Agriterra’s Master Trainer Trajectory!

While they were in full swing preparing for the ToT, the 7 participants arrived in Kigali. Luckily, everyone managed to test negative throughout the week.

Overall, it was a great time after the pandemic restrictions to finally meet again and also learn about the different initiatives for the Youth in Agribusiness program in the different countries that can be replicated and scaled up. We are working to contribute to sustainability of cooperatives and food security through increased participation of youths at the farm level, as experts and in leadership positions.
