Training & Workshops

'Farmers’ organisations and cooperatives can be in different stages of development, but they all have ambitions and face challenges in achieving them. Agriterra assists cooperatives and farmers’ organisations to transform into self-sustaining agri-enterprises in a way that their members experience the added value of being organised. Training sessions play a prominent role in Agriterra's services. Our range of training modules are structured as clearly defined products, covering relevant topics and delivering quality.

"By using standardised products, we deliver the same quality to different clients in different parts of the world. Take for example training programmes about financial management or governance. The content and cultural setting will always be customisable, but the objectives and methodology are similar, whether the training programme is offered in Zambia, Peru or Indonesia.".

The unique features of our trainings

Our training modules are part of services that come additionally with advice and exchange visits. Good preparation, monitoring and follow-up actions are key for a true impact. The relationship between Agriterra and its clients builds on exchanges of experiences between peers and practical advice from cooperatives to cooperatives. Agripool experts are a unique feature in Agriterra’s services. In trainings, we invite members, directors and staff of different cooperatives to participate, stimulating mutual exchange among participants.

Agriterra’s training programmes are practical and the farmers’ common sense is key. The training modules follow the principles of an adult learning cycle which acknowledges different learning styles. Training sessions envision to strengthen knowledge and skills, but true impact is achieved through a change of attitude. Cooperatives change when its leaders opt to improve the economic performance and increase the benefits for the farmers. Resistance to change is an understandable human reaction, often caused by fear of the unknown. Agriterra introduces, therefore, new concepts by stimulating an open mind for change.
